Australian Government - eSafety Commission

The eSafety Commissioner's purpose is to protect all Australians from online harms and foster safer, more positive online experiences.


Using research, evidence and experience to guide and advise on online safety issues, they aim to deliver compassionate and people-focused services.


Their approach encompasses three key areas:


  • Prevention: Through research, educational programs, and raising awareness
  • Protection: Via regulatory frameworks and investigations under the Online Safety Act
  • Proactive and Systemic Change: By staying ahead of technological trends, supporting industry improvements in user safety standards, and enhancing our impact internationally

Australian Government - Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE)

The ACCCE was announced by the Australian Prime Minister on 25 March 2018, as part of the 2018 - 2019 Commonwealth Budget and is led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).


The ACCCE employs a world-leading approach to tackle child exploitation by uniting key stakeholders and partners in a collaborative effort.


It integrates federal, state, and territory agencies, non-government organisations and private industry, facilitating the sharing of resources, knowledge and expertise.

Australian Government - Commissioner for Children and Young People Western Australia (CCYPWA)

Every state within Australia has a designated Commissioner for children and young people!

 

Our Western Australian Commissioner focuses on improving the wellbeing of children and young people’s through projects, research, reports and events. By using evidence, the Commissioner and their team aims to influence legislation, policy and public attitudes.


Key functions include:


  • Advocating for all children and young people
  • Monitoring laws, policies, and practices affecting their wellbeing
  • Valuing and promoting their voices and contributions
  • Consulting with children, families, and organizations
  • Researching trends related to their wellbeing
  • Inquiring into issues impacting their wellbeing


They also meet with decision makers and provide advice through submissions and discussions with the government and community.

Australian Government - Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC)

The National Children's Commissioner has several key duties:


  • Advocating for the rights and interests of children and young people nationwide
  • Encouraging children’s involvement in decisions affecting them
  • Leading and coordinating child rights issues on a national level
  • Raising awareness and respect for children's rights
  • Conducting research on children’s rights
  • Reviewing laws, policies and programs to ensure they protect children’s rights


The Commissioner consults extensively with children, young people and their representatives to carry out these duties.


Every five years, the National Children's Commissioner reports to the United Nations Commitee (Rights of the Child) on how Australian children are faring and how we are protecting children’s rights in Australia.

eSafe Kids - Kayelene Kerr

eSafeKids was founded by Western Australian, Kayelene Kerr, who is widely recognised as one of Australia's leading experts in Protective Behaviours, Body Safety, Cyber Safety, Digital Wellness and Pornography education. Kayelene is an absolute powerhouse in the Western Australian child safety space with extensive experience.

Surf Online Safe (SOS) - Paul Litherland

Paul has spoken at over 850 schools! He is an ex-Western Australian police officer and has been at the forefront of combating online crime, working directly with juvenile victims and their families since 2008. His extensive experience has informed his highly engaging presentations on online risks.


Since departing from the Western Australia Police in 2014, Paul has become one of the nation’s most esteemed and awarded educators in Cyber Safety and Internet Awareness, earning the title of 2022 WA Australian of the Year!


Surf Online Safe provides comprehensive awareness presentations tailored to:

  • School-aged children (Year 4 - Year 12)
  • Educators, parents, grandparents, guardians and carers
  • Businesses, as well as government and corporate organisations

WA Child Safety Services (WACSS)

Another wonderful group of humans, doing amazing things and creating change in our community!

 

WA Child Safety Services is a Western Australian provider of Protective Behaviours, Cyber Safety, Child Protection and Teen Talk programs and resources. They collaborate with families, schools and organisations to prevent child abuse and promote safety.
